Ryder begins her journey as a young dancer only to be outcasted for her differences. In this book, Ryder learns to appreciate her uniqueness and celebrate who she is.

Author, Channing Sparks's goal when creating "First Runner-Up" was to empower, amplify diverse voices, and celebrate the power of resilience in a world that isn't equal. By doing so, we can create a world where every person feels seen, valued, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential. In the dance studio is where I first saw the need for these pillars and I aspire for every child to have an uplifting experience when learning the beautiful art of dance and beyond.
